"How Important Is Professional Editing?"

I recently finished my first draft and am considering whether professional Book Editing services is worth the investment. Some friends say it’s unnecessary if you proofread well, while others swear by professional editing to elevate the quality.

I came across Barter. Books Publishers, which offers editing services alongside their publishing packages. Has anyone worked with them? Are they more suited for fiction or nonfiction editing?
